VH server on new MacBook Pro problem with FTDI serial device

I have a new MacBook Pro and running the latest VH server (v3.2.8). It only has USB-C connectors.

I have a Win7 Virtual Box guest that is running the latest VH client (v4.0.0). I have a FTDI 232R device connected and is connected to the Win7 VM via VH, however the Win7 has problems enumerating the COM port.

I then changed tac, and ran VH server on an old raspberry pi, and the FTDI232R connected to it. The Win7 VM connected fine and enumerated a COM port.

If I tried connecting to the serial device directly with VirtualBox I get the same errors/symptoms as I observe using VH, therefore I think there is something different with the USB on the new Mac.

Any ideas on this one? Please let me know what information you require to address this issue.

Thanks, Brendan.

Yes unfortunately i got a report of this same issue about 2 weeks ago, apple has changed something on the latest sierra build that prevents specifically the ftdi rs232 adapter working, it doesnt seem to detect the dongle passed via virtualhere. Im hoping its a bug in osx and apple is working on it...

The FTDI serial did work ok in osx 10.12.1 and i think .2 as well

I found some info on the web from others using the FTDI devices. It appears that the drivers from FTDI conflict with Apple's drivers that recongnise the devices. The FTDI drivers can be removed from /Library/Extensions/, reboot and you should/could be good to go. My device enumerates so that's a good start. I haven't confirmed everything is working yet, but fingers crossed !!
