VirtualHere Client on W10 1903 - Latest Updates

Hi,

I appear to be having trouble with connecting to shared USB dongles after this months Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 10 build 1903. Connecting to shared devices has become intermittent, where it'll show in the VirtualHere client as being Connected but messages are displayed on-screen stating that the USB Device is not recognized. Under Device Manager, the device shows as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".

I've tried the following -

1. Updated to the latest available version of VirtualHere Client software.
2. Updated to the latest available version of VirtualHere Server software.
3. Tried running the VirtualHere direct from the Exe rather than service.
4. Disabled the Windows firewall on both Server and Client.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Richard

Hi Richard, can you tell me what os you are using for the server side of virtualhere?

Hi Michael,

The OS at the server side of VirtualHere is Windows Server 2016 Standard. This is also fully patched with Windows updates.

Hi Michael,

This appears to have resolved the problem greatly but there is now the odd occasion when I was testing by repeatedly connecting and disconnecting of shared devices where it did pop up with USB Device malfunction. I'm hoping that this was simply me when "stress" testing it.

Is there anything else I'd need to check?

Thanks again,
Richard

Interestingly that message is usually caused from hardware, rather than inside software, so see how it goes. If possible you might want to try another hub if you have one spare to see if that improves things
