ILok Sharing Error

Hi.

Server: ASUS RT-AC68U router, Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware:380.69_2 / I used the latest Linux USB server vhusbdarm.

HUB connected to Router: Belkin F4U040v (4 port / USB 2.0 / Powered) / I used to use Belkin F5U507 hub before but changed to the Powered hub. Both works with port=off, port=on, or power_cycle_port code.

Client: 1) Desktop Win 10 / 2) Macbook Sierra 10.12.3

Problem:
There was problem with Syncrosoft elicenser before, but seems to works fine after changing the usb hub to powered one.
New problem found in ilok.
Every time I move between clients, It says

ILok Sharing Error: An iLok cannot be shared across multiple operating systems or computers. Disconnect and reconnect your iLok when switching to another OS/Computer.

Physically unplug and replug fixes the problem, but I want to fix it remotely.
Guess power cycle port code you put into server doesn't release ilok completely.
Any method to try?

I dont actually think your new hub works with real power cycling, you need to use one of these hubs https://github.com/mvp/uhubctl

1) is there possibility that even if port=off and port=on is turning the light in USBs (ilok or elicenser) off and on, but they are not actually turned off and on?
2) If so, the real power cycling really acts as if the USBs are physically unplugged and replugged? I'm thinking of buying and trying D-LINK DUB-H7 HUB.

1. Correct
2. Yes

Hi, I'm having a similar

Hi, I'm having a similar issue. I'm running the virtualhere server on a raspberry pi 2. I can see the iLok light turning off/on when i release the usb from one machine but I still get the sharing error. I've tried on port 2 of the raspberry pi, as well as on an amazon basics hub (HU3641V1), both of which are on the supported list of hubs here https://github.com/mvp/uhubctl

Clients are both Mac OS Sierra.

Is there something i'm missing?

Try all the ports on the pi, i actually thought it was port 3, but try all of them and dont use the hub

hey michael,

hey michael,

i'm on a pi2, so there's only 2 usb ports. doesn't work in either port.

OK...get a pi3 then :)

haha! i actually have a pi3 as well, was just hoping to use the 2 for virtualhere and the 3 for other stuff..... i'll try it out on the pi3 tomorrow and see if it works on there. if so, would it be possible to transfer my license to the 3 once i get it set up?
