nVidia Sheld TV with Experiance 7.2 - Client can no longer find the server

Hi

I've got a licensed server on one of my shield tv 2017 models that has been updated to the new experience 7.2. The client cannot find them and just sits there doing a connecting to hub and then nothing; it keeps repeating this over. The Shield TV still has the same devices set for sharing installed and they haven't been unplugged, plugging in an ignored device asks to bring up the main interface so the app is still working. Is there something different with the change? Where can I look for logs etc. to see what is happening?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris, I updated my shield to 7.2 and VirtualHere still works fine. So it must be something specific to your setup. Can you do this:

1. Start the VirtualHere Server App on the Shield TV
2. Click on the menu at the top right and select "System Messages"->Copy to clipboard
3. . Can you somehow paste that into an email and send to me at mail [at] virtualhere.com (mail[at]virtualhere[dot]com)

So it appears to be an issue with the bonjour .local address. Once I added the IP of the Shield TV in to the 'specify hubs' part of the client it was found fine along with the hardware attached. This has always worked straight out of the box with these units so not sure what has happened, nothing on the network has changed either. I've sent an email containing both client and server logs.

OK actually I think i know the issue, it is that a windows update happened e.g from windows 10 1803 to 1809 . And that requires bonjour to be reinstalled. For some reason there is a bug in bonjour which prevents it from lookup up a dns name after a major windows update.

To reinstall bonjour, just uninstall it it from Windows -> Apps And Features and then let the virtualhere client install it again automatically.

Cool that did the trick! Would never have known that unfortunately without asking.
