Server Creation

Hello,

I am new user of VirtualHere. Using 2 laptops on Windows 10, connected via the same local network, the program works as intended.

I am attempting to connect 2 PCs that are running on separate networks. I'm unsure if this is possible without including a third-party. So far I have followed the 'Server Configuration' thread in attempt to identify 1 of the PCs as the server.

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello Michael,

I have just finishing trying the methods described in the guide you have provided, but to no avail.

[First attempting the EasyFind route...]
- I am able to make a connection when both devices are on the same network (This is how i can access the server properties client-side and enable EasyFind).
- After subscribing the server's EasyFindID, I attempt to connect with the devices on separate networks.
- I specified the hub to be used, as instructed (ID and PIN, separated with "-"), but no connection is made.

[Attempting the Reverse Clients/TCP route...]
- After making the initial same-network connection and enabling the 'Reverse Client Connection' will
- I access the 'Reverse Clients...' function client-side and add the Client's information (I tried both the IP address and hostname options).
- No connection is made once the devices are on separate networks.

[Editing config.ini route...]
- After verifying that a same-network connection could still be made
- I stopped the server and added the ReverseClients information to Server's 'config' (Again attempting both the Client's IP and hostname).
- I tried to make a connection before and after selecting the 'Restore Configuration' option in order to verify that the changes to "config.ini" were not lost.
- Additionally I tried disabling the UseAVAHI value as the guide specifies that this may help with client-side firewall issues.

Following was the 'Server Configuration FAQ' was the original plan. however, no success.

Once again thank you for your guidance.

I dont know, if nothing at all works then i think its probably a firewall that blocks everything somewhere between the two machines..

Hello Michael,

Just wanted to give you a follow up. I was searching the forums for potential issues and came upon this thread: https://www.virtualhere.com/content/easyfind-not-working

Myself and the user were testing their connection through a 4G network. Once i tested the connection through 2 separate home broadband networks, the program functioned properly. This is what i was intending the program to be used for anyway, so all is good.

Thank you for your efficient support
