Virtualserver and firmware on GL-MT300N-V2

Hi,
Hopefully you can help, ive installed your firmware onto my GL-MT300N-V2 usb hub and running Virtualclient on laptop all seems to be ok but I have a slight issue, im trying to use this setup to be able to communicate over wifi with aftermarket Link G4+ ECU on my car via its USB data cable plugged into the MT300, others have done this ok I believe but for some reason I cant get it the Ecu to connect over Wifi but it is showing up on Virtualclient ok, I have also tried plugging a couple of other devices into the MT300 (USB memory stick and mouse) and those work ok over wifi but not the Ecu in car that I need it to, if I connect MT300 using Lan cable rather than the Wifi it all works ok which is even stranger!

Any ideas on things I might be able to try please ?

Thanks
Ian

Seems like your wifi reception is not good. When you are connected over wifi to the ECU, in the virtualhere client right click on the CloudHub_xxx and select Properties->Latency and see what the graph looks like. It should be in the 1-5ms range and flat not spiky. Is that what it looks like?

Thanks I will check that today and let you know how it looks.

Ok you were right :) the latency was all over the place, not sure why the MT300 was right next to the laptop using its internal wifi however i had a netgear usb wifi stick so i tried using that instead of the internal wifi and latency was lot better, took it out to the car and connected to the Ecu no problem so hopefully that is it sorted.

Thanks for the help.

Still not working consistently enough to be any use, the latency still fluctuates and while mostly staying around 3-7 it occasionally spikes to 100+ and then i get disconnect from Ecu, its the same with all 3 methods ive used to connect to the MT300 which are laptop inbuilt wifi, laptop USB stick wifi and my tablet with its wifi.

Is it possible the MT300 is either faulty? or maybe the firmware has not gone on correctly?, if i can work out how to go back to original firmware and start again i will try that!

You could reflash the original firmware by downloading it from the gl-inet website for the GL-MT300NV2

then put in on the mt300nv using winscp then ssh to the router (user=root,no password) and run

sysupgrade /path/to/file.bin

Ok i will try that thank you, ive got the firmware downloaded i just need to flash it , ive not used winscp before but hopefully straightforward once i get a look at it.
