Ilok sharing error with QNAP

Hi!

Today I installed the virtual here server on our QNAP TS-559. I bought the license and was able to connect to one of my ilok's in the QNAP hub with my laptop at home via the static external IP address of the QNAP, which is great! Then I tried to also connect with my macmini to another Ilok in my QNAP hub, but I got the message 'ilok sharing error'. Is there a way to make this work with QNAP? Do I have to buy one of those supported power switching USB hubs form the list? Or do I need to get one of those raspberry Pi's?

Best regards,

Jaim

Yes you need the supported power switching hub or the pi :)

Thanks for the fast reply! My Qnap has 4 USB ports. Can I put one hub in every port? I saw the max number of ports on the supported USB hubs is 7. So 4 times 7 makes 28 ports. I would like to build a big dongle server for my company.

Yes you can do that. But if you want to power-cycle the devices you need the correct hub.

Hi Michael,

Last Friday my USB hub arrived. I ordered a D-Link DUB-H7 rev D (black) from the uhubctl list, but I got a DUB-H7 rev E. This is not yet on the list, but it works perfectly! I will report it so it can go on the list. The 7 slot hub is filled up so I ordered a extra one Yesterday. Thanks for the great product and service!

Best regards,

Jaim
