Connecting to USB Hub... but unable to connect

I'm a newby here but frustratingly unable to connect within a LAN -

Client: Win 10 wired ethernet -> switch -> router with DHCP (Edgerouter X)
Server: Win 10 laptop wifi -> AP -> same router with DHCP (Edgerouter X)

On the client, periodically the message will pop up "Connecting to USB Hub..." and while it's on screen I can right click - Properties and see that it has found the Server's IP address and port 7575... but then the message disappears from screen. System Messages on the client looks like this:

2021-03-07 18:57:51 INFO :Could not connect to 192.168.1.72:7575
2021-03-07 18:58:21 INFO :Could not connect to 192.168.1.72:7575
2021-03-07 18:58:51 INFO :Could not connect to 192.168.1.72:7575

When I turn off the Server, the Connecting to USB Hub message stops showing up. To me all of this seems to indicate that Bonjour is working and the client/server "see" each other but then something happens to prevent the connection. Logs on the Server side don't show anything indicating that the Server attempts to connect.

I've tried uninstalling Bonjour and letting the app(s) reinstall it automatically. Tried doing the Enable Reverse Connections thing. Might have tried something firewall related with TCP 7575 and UDP 5353, but honestly I was googling and not sure I did it correctly... but if I could get some help rounding down the problem to one specific area I can focus my energy on getting that correct.

Thanks so much for help and let me know if other info would be useful in diagnosing.

Its definately your firewall on the server, if its not connecting.

I had the exact same setup just on windows 11 trying to connect steering wheels and peddles on laptop to pc upstairs
had same issue with the same error in the client's logs "2022-12-27 20:51:48 INFO  :Could not connect to 192.168.0.102:7575"

on the client device "Client: Win 10 wired ethernet":
windows search "Allow an app through Windows Firewall"
click the button change settings with the shield  icon
scroll wayyy down to "vhusbdwin64.exe"
make sure the boxes on the left are both checked so it has both public and private access
click ok at the bottom of the screen

client should instantly connect to server next time it dose the auto search cycle
