OpenWRT image with VirtualHere installed for the TP-Link MR3040 v2?

Hi Michael,

Just got this working on my MR3040 v2 with my Saitek X-55 stick and throttle...so stoked that I bought the license immediately!
I have been hunting for an OpenWRT image with the right VirtualHere server binary included because as you know the MR3040 is only a 4mb device so I can't copy the file to permanent storage. Copying it over to /temp and running it every time I boot is a pain!
I know I can extend the file system using a flash drive and a USB hub, but I think it's a bit janky and overcomplicated.

I would appreciate if if you can point me to where I can get the image...all the links that I've found (www.igormasin.it, www.mad-sharky.com, etc. ) so far are dead links.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Regards,

Rene

I dont have a copy or link to that firmware because that device is so old i cant buy it anymore to test. I focus on the hardware which is cheap and available e.g like the gl-mt300nv2.

Is it running openwrt already or is it running the tplink operating system?

I'm running OpenWRT (Barrier Breaker). I am able to run vhusbdmips24kc but its loaded into tempfs, which gets deleted every reboot. The MR3040 is a 4MB device so loading it in onboard memory is not possible because OpenWRT only leaves 424kb free on /dev/mtdblock3 and vhusbdmips24kc is 420kb :(

My reason for choosing the MR3040 is because i has a built in 2000mah battery which can power the X-55 throttle and stick for a couple of hours.

OK you will need to compile your own openwrt and you could probably remove some stuff you dont need. I think openwrt includes stuff like ppp etc. Then you can just put the virtualhere binary on the openwrt image when you compile it. )Most people just use the gl-mt300nv2 with a usb powerbank and that basically solves the battery problem).
