So, even trying to follow the instructions, i go to hubs, right click and choose license, but there's nothing there, it says that I'm not connecting to any server, I've tried to connect multiple times from my laptop to a virtual machine, but i just can't make it work.

You can start and see the server without buying a license :)
If you cant see the server, it just means that the server and client cant automatically find each other.
There might be a firewall in the way or the client&server are on different networks.
Try right clicking USB Hubs->Specify Hubs->Add and put in the ip address of the virtualhere server and then click ok and it should popup.
