Naga Pro Mouse Not Detected

Hello,

I need help with my Razer Naga Pro mouse (original model RZ01-03420100)

I am running VirtualHere server on a new NVIDIA SHIELD. I also purchased VirtualHere for Steam Link, though I am only using the Steam Link app (not the hardware). My desktop PC is a recent custom build running Windows 11 Home.

The Steam Link app on my SHIELD shows a settings tab for VirtualHere as expected - in here it detects two devices and lists them as:

  1. Razer Tartarus V2
  2. VIA Labs, Inc PD3.0 USB-C Device

My desktop PC detects the Tartarus correctly, and likewise the Razer Synapse 3 software on my PC detects the Tartarus as expected. However, the Naga Pro mouse is not detected properly as evident by #2 above; the VirtualHere client on my PC shows the following device info for #2:

  • Vendor: Via Labs
  • Product: Inc
  • Vendor ID: 0x0000
  • Product ID: 0x0000
  • Serial: PD3.0 USB-C Device
  • Address: 1005

Alternatively, if I disconnect the Tartarus and only connect the Naga Pro, VirtualHere server on the SHIELD does not detect anything despite the fact that the Steam Link app on the SHIELD does detect it (appears as "Naga Pro" in the 'Controllers tab); restarting the Steam Link app or the SHIELD does not change this behavior.

I have tried a variety of tshooting steps, including multiple reboots on multiple apps/devices, using different USB ports, and using a second Naga Pro (same model) - but this issue persists.

Could this issue be due to a bug with VirtualHere server?

No, some mice are prevented from being redirected by Android. If you need to redirect a mouse try using something else as the virtualhere server if possible. Or try using the naga mouse wireless dongle via virtualhere instead, then pair the mouse to it (or even Bluetooth USB dongle if you have one of those), basically don't plug it directly into the shield via the cable.

Thanks for the quick response.

i purchased the SHIELD because it seemed like a simple solution to deploy VirtualHere with SteamLink. I appreciate the clarification about possible mouse interference from Android.

 

What is a good low-cost solution that you recommend for VirtualHere server + Steam Link?

Update:

I tried connecting the Naga Pro to the SHIELD via both Bluetooth and 2.4GHz, but neither worked. With Bluetooth VirtualHere doesn't see anything, and with 2.4GHz it's the same issue described in the OP.

Looks like I either need to find a non-Android server for VirtualHere + Steam Link, or I need to find a similar alternative to the Naga Pro which won't encounter this issue.

Michael, I got it to work!

I took your advice and purchased a TP-Link Bluetooth USB adapter. Below is a description of my steps and observations:

  1. Connected Bluetooth USB adapter to PC.
  2. Synced Naga Pro to Bluetooth USB adapter.
  3. Removed Bluetooth USB adapter from PC.
  4. Connected Bluetooth USB adapter to NVIDIA Shield TV.
  5. Rebooted NVIDIA Shield TV.
  6. Opened Steam Link app on NVIDIA Shield TV.
    1. Note: Steam Link app did not detect the Naga Pro. At first I thought this was an issue but realized this was expected behavior because the Bluetooth USB adapter was not actually recognized by Android OS on the NVIDIA Shield TV.
    2. Navigated to 'Virtual Here' settings tab and confirmed that 'TP Link Bluetooth USB adapter' was correctly listed here.
    3. Clicked button to initialize Steam Link streaming with my PC.
  7. Once Steam Link streaming established connectivity with my PC, I opened the Razer Synapse 3.0 software and verified that the Naga Pro was detected successfully - this confirmed successful functionality of Virtual Here software.

I almost gave up when I noticed that the NVIDIA Shield TV was unable to detect the Bluetooth USB adapter and I had no simple way to access Android OS settings to fix this; my first thought was that this was a failed solution. But then I realized that this didn't actually matter because Virtual Here would simply forward the signal from the Bluetooth USB adapter to my PC - and sure enough it worked! I am now able to play my PC games from the comfort of my Home Theater with all of the advanced button-mapping features of my favorite Razer hardware - the Tartarus v2 has a wired USB connection to the NVIDIA Shield TV and the Naga Pro is linked to the Bluetooth USB adapter which is connected to the NVIDIA Shield TV.

OK great! Im glad its all working now. Kind of convoluted however, i wish google would just allow keyboards/mice to be passed through, it would be so much easier
