USB issues with virtualhere. 8bitdo USB dongle 2

I've been having issues with an 8bitdo USB dongle 2. Works completely fine when plugged in directly to the PC, but a complete hit or miss, mostly miss, when using it with virtual here.

Device shows up fine in virtual here client. controller connects to the dongle just fine and shows up just fine in device manager, but the controller simply just does not work. 

I've noticed that when pairing the controller to the USB dongle using virtualhere, the buttons work for a few seconds before no longer working. I don't know if it's coincidence, but I normally use a USB hub to connect multiple devices. when I plug the dongle directly to my phone, it'll work for a few minutes instead of seconds before no longer working. Again, in this event everything shows up fine in device manager, and the controller and dongle both show connected. But the controllers buttons simply don't work. 

Using virtual here server on a pixel 7, and client is a windows 11 PC.

The 8BitDo one is a bit finicky in general, due to how it works - The Bluetooth pairing is done on the device itself, and it presents itself to the system as a game controller rather than a Bluetooth adapter. You might want to try a regular Bluetooth dongle instead. This long-range one from XDO works pretty well with Xbox controllers at least: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09KGVFX1K/

I was using a Bluetooth adapter. I was trying to find an alternative. The problem with using a Bluetooth adapter is I have to disable the Bluetooth adapter that is already on my computer, and in doing so I have to reboot the PC every time. That gets tedious and annoying. So was trying to find a solution that didn't require Bluetooth.

 

I did find an adapter that kind of works though If the connection is good enough. If not it has the same issues as the 8bitdo, but with a fast connection it works just fine.

To disable the computer's Bluetooth adapter, you should be able to right-click on it in Device Manager and select "Disable device". This shouldn't require a restart.

would love to know how your doing it then... In fact, would love to also know how to make an autohotkey script or something that auto disables the main bluetooth adapter when the secondary usb one is connected (via virtualhere) then re-enable it when it disconnects.

 

this would be a much more ideal situation than using that adapter I linked. 

 

but alas this cannot be done if disabling it forces a restart.
