VirtualHere Crashing on Android

Running the full version on the Sheild TV, I've noticed that sometimes the server disappears, and I'll need to open the app it will say USB Server Stopped > Exit app > launch again. Always allow/open USB server was selected when passing the usb devices.

Other times I'll here the disconnect\connect sound in Windows but it recovers.

I do not allow any of the requested Android Permissions, not sure why it needs access to my files so could this be the cause?

#2

Yes that is probably the cause. It might also be the network connection if its running over wifi and the wifi is not very good.

#3

I forgot to say server and client are both on ethernet, can you explain why those permissions are needed?

#4

Dont know, it wont work without them properly. Ive forgotten now why each is needed

#5

It's been pretty stable after selecting keep awake without changes to permissions.

It's been pretty stable after selecting keep awake without changes to permissions.

#7

OK but that requires permission :) android.permission.WAKE_LOCK which you didnt grant so not sure why its stabler...

#8

Haven't had a single crash yet on the server. The client did crash when I tried to turn on controller 2 during gamerplay, it also froze the game.

I'll leave that as Windows being Windows, I'll monitor further and see if permissions are needed on the server.

The permissions that the server asks for are: "Mic", "Camera" and "Media files and folders", nothing about wake lock.

I also did switch out the usb hub, which could have been the reason for the crashing.

#9

Ah ok so you do have permissions for most things then. I thought you did not allow any at all.

#10

The permissions above are the only ones it asked about and the only ones I can enable/disable.

I assume "Mic", "Camera" and "Media files and folders" are not needed?

#11

No you can revoke everything via the App settings in android. Mac/Camera/Media not needed unless you want to pass through a video camera/mic/disk
