Just purchased but now found the USB device I need to share does not work.

I have a QNAP NAS running the server software and two networked Macs running the client.

The USB device is attached to the Server (iLok USB dongle).

I can access from one machine but on disconnecting and trying to connect on second machine I get this error message.

"ILok Sharing Error
An iLok cannot be shared across multiple
operating systems or computers.
Disconnect and reconnect your iLok
when switching to another OS/Computer."

I didn't see any warnings at purchase that this specific device does not work with USB Virtual Here.

The objective here was not to have keep plugging and unplugging the licence dongle.  How do I get a refund or is there a solution?

Thanks

Mr D Wyatt

I had tried the software but I couldn't test with my new device as my trial attempts had expired on other USB devices.

I tried reinistalling the server package to the NAS but that failed due to the security processes employed still showing I had an expired trial.

So I read some background notes where others seem to indicate they had it working.  Saw no reference to additional hardware though.

I see the technical solution is in killing the power between hub and device .  So ill see what my existing hardware / software is capable of along those lines.

If that fails I may have to purchase the suggested hardware.

VirtualHere knows to power-cycle iloks automatically if you have a compliant hub
