Cloud Hub RPI zero

I have a Rasberry pi Zero W that I am trying to run as a cloud hub. I am only connecting to one usb port is my reasoning behind the Pi zero.

I’ve had it it running previously for a few days, now when I switch the the Pi on it shows my wifi (renamed) however on 3 different devices they all do the same thing.

It will read the network, connect but intermittently it drops connection entirely and I have to manually reconnect or have it on auto connect. Still the windows pc’s with the intermittent connection do not show the usb I have plugged in.

I’ve had it show the device once for not even one second but it wouldn’t come up again once re connected

How are you powering the pi0w? Via a good USB power supply that can power the pi0w and the attached USB device?

#3

I am using a 32-8v buck converter to micro usb 3v for power, my goal is to have this installed into a racecar to provide a single channel usb port.

Raspberry Pi and coding is all new to me so if you have a better solution to power that would be helpful.

The car has a 16v battery onboard in total loss so I need to go from 16 to 3v as the ecu will draw to much current to keep on to run off a 9v battery or anything similar.

Even with no usb plugged in it is still intermittent with the wifi signal

It is a mistake to use a pi0w for this because the pi0w wifi is terrible even when it works. I would recommend something like the GL-AR300M16 , much better wifi and cheaper and runs cloudhub

#5

Does this need anything else or I can treat it the same as I was my PI0?

As in I don’t need a wifi adapter to plug into it

#6

Treat same way as pi0, does not need any sdcard (its built-in)

Hi Michael,

My AR300M16 arrived today I am trying to upgrade to cloud hub software through the glinet admin panel but it says Testing the firmware with sysupgrade failed.

Is there anything I am doing wrong? Or need to change

#8

I think there is a checkbox like "overwrite" or "force" or something like that next to the firmware update button. Check that.

(Dont use the pi0w firmware, remember to download the ar300m16 cloudhub firmware)

I don’t see anything like that on my windows device or mobile

#10

Uncheck keep settings/keep installed packages

#11

I just plugged it into my main router to download luci to upgrade the software seems to have worked now. 3rd light stay flashing red?

#12

It flashes red while it updates, when it reboots it should have two greens only

#13

Still has a flashing/solid red even after updating within the cloud hub configuration.

Maybe I did something wrong inside luci, is there anyway for me to go back there

#14

Have a look for the CloudHub_xxx wifi network and join that while running the virtualhere client

#15

It works perfectly fine all my devices function, just the red light is my only concern

#16

OK dont worry about it then.

Some devices work awesome, my probably highest power draw device won’t complete what I want with it.

It is an ecu it reads files fine but when I go to write it refuses to make it all the way through with this specific ecu.

It worked fine with my pi 0 with this device never giving me this trouble
