Display "Update available" in server properties

Hey Michael,
It would be great if we could immediately see if the USB server had an update available from the USB client.

This would mean we could keep a closer eye on staying up-to-date, which can only help with support enquiries.

VirtualHere used to have that but i removed it about 5 years ago.

The reason is most (larger) customers dont like any software that calls to any server on the internet automatically (e.g to check for updates) and its selling point for VirtualHere actually. VirtualHere is totally self contained and does not require the internet and never pings the internet to work or check anything.

The best way is to just subscribe to the updates page

HI Michael,
I do follow those, but when I get the emails is not necessarily when I'm anywhere near a computer.

I agree that it's great your software doesn't phone-home by default, but I would be happy to enable said feature if it were for ensuring I was up-to-date.
Same goes for the USB client. Would you consider re-enabled that feature with a default to off?

Software like TailScale implements this and they are known for privacy.

No, the trouble is this sort of option makes it more difficult to be security audited.
