Are there any known issues with 26H2?

Hey Michael

I upgraded my main PC (X99, Xeon, RDIMM) to Windows 11 26H2. I had huge problems getting my VirtualHere dongle to work. Are there any known issues with this?

VirtualHere is running on an RPi 4B with standard RPi Bookworm, with the VirtualHere server installed via

curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/virtualhere/script/main/install_server | sudo sh

Up until now, this has always worked perfectly. I have two "China-made" dongles connected to the Pi, and they are working just as they should. I also have two RX2SIM units connected, with original Phoenix RC dongles plugged into them; these have been causing issues. The RX2SIM units can be used in either "dongle" mode or "game controller" mode. I experienced problems while using them in dongle mode, but for the moment, everything is running fine.

I updated the RPi, restarted it, and am using the latest VH client on the machine. It actually took me half an hour of tinkering to get it working.

Although the dongle appeared connected in the client software, the simulator kept indicating that the "USB dongle is missing."

Another drawback is that the client doesn't run on Windows 7. Fortunately, I still have an older version that does work on Windows 7—though I often have to deactivate and activate the dongle several times before the simulator finally recognizes it.

Greetings and thanks

Martin

Virtualhere is fully compatible with 26H2. Usually Windows is very good with backward compatibility (unlike MacOS).

Normally when this sort of thing occurs, i recommend updating to the latest firmware on the device you are trying to use e.g plug the RX2SIM directly into the pc and run its software and see if there is a firmware update. Having a quick look through the docs it says "StudioX" software can do this. Did you try that yet?

Thanks, Michael!

As far as I understand, you can use the RX2SIM to update the BeastX, but not the RX2SIM itself. I don’t use a BeastX.

Anyway, I restarted the RPi, and now it’s working again. It might be a coincidence, but this morning I had a BSOD; it first said "the game controller software has been restarted," and then the entire machine crashed.I’ll keep an eye on it; for the moment, things are running fine.
