Updating Virtualhere 4.18 onto WD MyCloud EX2Ultra 'updating' but not updating

Hi, first post and congrats on an awesome program. Gladly got my ilok and elicencers running well with the WD EX2Ultra. I've seen there's an update (4.18) for the WD EX2Ultra, while only 4.02 is installed on the WD by default.

I've downloaded the BIN file, tried to 'add manually' but the WD Ultra says it 'updates' when it doesn't, stays as 4.02 regardless, so seems not to upgrade / overwrite the original 4.02 version.

Is there a way of getting into the 'brains' of the WD Ultra so I can upgrade 4.18?

Also will USB thumbdrives be redireccted as that would be great for Waves plugins (since they resort to thumbdrives, seen VH supports this but eems that WD NAS isnt supported?)

I think that is because you are using older WD firmware on your NAS? Im not sure but possibly your firmware needs to be at least 3.10.111 as they have substantially updated their system at that point and virtualhere needs that version.

OK you need to keep using 4.02 until they update the WD software. Its coming... but maybe its not quite released yet

No problem, guess you know some inside info ;) will keep as I am and fingers crossed we can VH client plug in a thumbdrive and redirect like the other usb dongles (Waves plugins are a law to themselves when pushing licences to C: or usbthumbs only)

Ok now here'sa cool thing.... VirtuaHere site is actually backed up on Wayback Machine (thought I would take a punt).

4.07 installed flawlessly, and now I can see USB drives as if plugged in remotely. Superb. Seriously cool stuff. Will check 4.18 now to see if there was something sticky

OK thats a good idea. However until they release 3.x of their OS it wont update. Im surprised it doesnt show an error when you try to update saying your firmware is too old. So ive emailed them about this

Seems pretty weird setup for their os releases.... 4.x WD firmware looks the oldest, then 3.x after 4.x, now they're on 2.30.x which is the newest (Dec 19). Think a few users also were baffled into this numbering method

I heard back from WD, they said around oct 2020 is when the new firmware is released...
