Remote Canon 6D detected but cannot be used

Hi Michael,

I have successfully installed your excellent VirtualHere server (free vesion) on a NEXX WT3020F router running OpenWRT and I am trying to test a possible connection scenario of my DSLR(s) with both MacOS Mojave and Windows 7 (64 bit) as client computers.
I am confronted with the following problems and I would appreciate any advice:

1) In order to run the MacOS client, it seems that it needs to be run twice. After just one click of VirtualHere client through Launchpad (or a double-click in Applications), nothing seems to happen. After I run it a second time, then the client appears correctly (however, in the case that both ‘Auto-find Hubs’ and ‘Specify Hubs’ are checked, the same Hub appears twice in the USB Hubs list). So the question is whether I can do something so that the client will appear running with a single activation.

2) I am trying to make my Win7 PC run Canon EOS Utility software as soon as the remotely (on the NEXX router) connected Canon 6D is turned on. This is the default behaviour of the software when connected via USB locally. Unfortunately, the PC does not recognize it via VirtualHere in a way that will open the appropriate application. It certainly shows up in the Hub, it says that it is used by me, but cannot be accessed by the EOS Utility, neither automatically, nor when I manually start the application. On the contrary, in MacOS Mohave, everything works fine. And, in addition, the problem I just described does not exist with my other DSLR, Canon 7D, that is detected correctly by (another version, appropriate for this DSLR) EOS Utility.
Do you think there is a way to solve the problem by Event Handlers or something similar?

Thank you in advance!

Yes win7 is not supported, and neither is osx for your camera. You need to use a win10 client

Thank you Michael for the prompt reply!
Is there absolutely nothing to try? I realize you don't support Win7, but perhaps you could give me a direction on what to experiment by myself so I could manage to find a solution (which will not be general of course). For example, to study and experiment by myself in EventHandlers or something? Or is it entirely futile?

Its because Microsoft totally re-wrote the USB system in windows 10 to make it much more compatible.

Why dont you just use win10? I think there is/was a free upgrade to win10 from Microsoft.

I suppose I will finally attempt it, i.e. to "update"my beloved Sony VAIO to Win10. I just need some free time because I have a ton of applications to migrate!
Thanks again, Michael!

Hi, Michael, I just wanted to tell you that the problem is solved after upgrading to Windows 10. It was an additional challenge (getting Win10 to work flawlessly on my Sony Vaio VGN-Z31WN/B from 2009) but was successfully completed!

OK great! Thanks for letting me know, i thought that would fix it. Win10 is a lot better with USB devices..
