start the USB device in another way besides using the address?

Forums

Hello, I am trying out VH, but I have a problem. Each USB address is not fixed, and whoever is plugged in first takes up the address. When I tried to start the original device address in cmd mode, I found that it had changed. Can I start the USB device in another way besides using the address? For example, using USB PID or VID

Not able to Use the device in WSL2 - ARM machine.

Forums

Hi,

I am new here, just purchase the license of virtualhere but not able to connect the device. adding the details below(which is my requirement as well).

  • I am using ARM machine(windows 11).
  • Need to connect the device inside WSL2(ubuntu-22)
  • vhci_hcd module is present.

I am getting the below error when using the device.

VirtualHere Client: There was a error using this device.

Mac OS login

Forums

If using a keyboard and mouse with the GL.inet USB Server, is there a way for it to auto connect to the Mac OS upon boot up so you could use said keyboard and mouse to type in credentials into the Mac OS login screen after a restart?
Thanks,

Matthew

Server 'crashing' or disconnecting?

Forums

Hey Michael,

A couple days ago I updated a few things on my RPi and now VH has started dropping out. When it does so, all devices are obviously disconnected and the two devices that have auto-use enabled are shown as (In use by  (windowsPCname) at ::) and when I right-click on one, it says "In use elsewhere..." so it seems that it's getting 'locked up'.

Does the server or client store a log file so we can see what may have occurred to cause this drop-out?

I'm running RPi server v 4.6.7 and Windows client is 5.7.6.

Client not finding hub after Server update

Forums

Hi,

Today I saw a package update for VirtualHere on my Synology NAS running DSM 7.2.1-69057.

This update took my VirtualHere from 4.3.x to 4.6.6-1466.

However, the client no longer finds my USB server.

The client was 5.5.4.0 and I have since updated it to 5.7.6.0 but still no USB server.

I have also tried to set the hub manually but again nothing.  I have also rebooted the Synology NAS and my Windows 10 machine.

Below are the system messages recorded.

VirtualHere Client Interface Binding

Forums

Hi there,

I know it is possible to bind the server to a specific interface.

Is it possible to also bind the client - Windows in this case, to a specific interface.

I have a use case where my system has 3x network interfaces and I need to stop the software sending Multicast packets on all of them --- it actually sends out on the first (or wrong one) and the server does not honour the request [as it is listening on a different VLAN as such].

Server install on unraid

Forums

Hi,

Having used the virtualhere server for a long while on Synology, I have moved to an Unraid setup, and am keen to get the server on there too. Unfortunately I am still quite the linux novice (but trying to learn!)

I came across this old thread which suggests it ought to work easily https://forums.unraid.net/topic/50098-usb-over-ip-any-interest-in-a-virtualhere-plugin/
