Hello guys, is it possible to run a virtualhere server on a vm?

I am thinking about creating a homelab using the minipc I was using as a virtualhere server. I still need virtualhere but I want to intall proxmox on the phisical pc where a windows vm could run the usb server. Is it possible?

If it is will the licence still work since the VM is running on the same hardware?

I'm pretty new at using this software but now I'm facing a problem with it.

First of all I'm running the server on a macOS sonoma 14.4 and I'm trying to use my hotas x52 pro through moonlight on a linuxmint cinnamon os. The connection goes very well. But I have server side disconnections all the time and it's not automaticaly reconnecting I have to unplug and replug. it wouldn't really bother me but when it's disconnecting mid-game and  I have to restart the game for it to work again. 

Server Running:
Jetson Orin Nano

Client Running:

Windows 11 PC

Hardware connected:
Logitech G290 Wheel

Interface:

eth0 (both connect through the same router with ethernet connections)

Problem:

Server will not stay connect for more than 20 - 60 seconds

I'm using Server 4.6.7 on a Mac Mini running Mac OS 12.7.3 and Client 5.7.0 on a Mac Studio with Mac OS 13.6.4 (VH apps have been freshly updated in pursuit of this issue). We have three Davinci Resolve dongles being served by the server.

We've been experiencing a minor nuisance for a few versions now. This is not a dealbreaker at all, just hoping it's an easy fix on your end. I can't remember exactly when it started but it's easy to replicate. Here's what's happening:

Server is OpenWrt 23.05.3 on ramips/mt7621, licensed. Clients are Win10 and Win7. USB devices are Omron PLCs CP1H-Y and CJ2M-CPU64EIP. Both use the same id [0590:005b] and behave the same way on both Windows clients. When plugged in directly they work. I have tried the two options below. 

AutoAttachToKernel=0
ClaimPorts=1
 

VirtualHere, which I've run for years, suddenly stopped starting up today, until I reentered:

sudo /Applications/VirtualHereServerUniversal.app/Contents/MacOS/vhusbdosx -b

This, I believe, removed it as a daemon, and it starts when I do this, but of course now osascript wants me to enter a password every time. The log file is not helpful, filled with entries like this:

• Licensed VH Server running on RPi with SafeNet USB token attached
• VH Windows Production machine (PROD) running VH Client as a service
• VH Windows Development machine (DEV) running VH Client as a service

Now on the DEV machine, where I click "Use this device"  there are no problems detecting the token.

Plugging the controller directly into the Windows 11 client works. Windows picks it up and I can update the firmware. 

Same cable plugged into a linux usb server and then enabled on the Windows 11 client shows the controller in device manager, with the same driver, doesn't sh ow up in joy.cpl nor the xbox accessories. This behavior was seen on Windows 10 as well.

After I installed the filter driver on my Lenovo T16 (Win11 Enterprise) I rebooted the system as indicated on the command line.

Afte reboot none of my usb devices would enumerate anymore when connected to an usb port. I rebooted another time, just to make sure ... but still no USB port function anymore.

Fortunately the internal peripherals like keyboard and touchpad still worked, otherwise I would have been in real in trouble.
