Unexpected COM Port Behavior

Forums

I'm evaluating VirtualHere to allow communication/control between USB-serial instruments physically connected to a host computer and Hyper-V virtual machines on the host. I'm using VH server 4.8.7 on the host, and VH client 5.9.8 on the VM. Standard USB controlled devices show up correctly in the client when connected and communication works. However, I'm having issues with serial over USB devices. The VM has Windows 10 Enterprise 2019 installed. I have two serial devices that when plugged in, connect to COM6 and COM7 on the host.

[HELP] Controller vibration suddenly stopped working with VirtualHere + NVIDIA Shield

Forums

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me because this is driving me crazy.
Yesterday, the controller's vibration worked perfectly using VirtualHere + NVIDIA Shield, but today it stopped working even though I haven't changed anything.

Setup:
- NVIDIA Shield connected via Ethernet
- PC also connected via Ethernet
- 1Gb connection
- I have a 2.4GHz USB dongle for the controller connected to the Shield
I’m using the VirtualHere server on the Shield and the client on the PC

Having trouble when try to click "use this device" button when using the reverse client mode

Forums

Question: Does the reverse client function need license? I checked Purchase page and found nothing about reverse client mode.

Summary: I can't click "use this device" button though the device is not used.

Now I'm trying to use virtualhere on macOS to support PS5 controller perfectly when using moonlight to play game not supported for macOS.

I've established a WAN connection successfully when using MacOS as server and my Windows PC as client.(The macOS have public IPV4 address at my home)

Fix for SecureToken / SmartCard devices not mounting correctly on first try (Windows)

Forums

I want to share a solution that finally fixed my issue with SecureToken / Avtor smart card devices not mounting correctly on Windows via VirtualHere.

Problem:

  • VirtualHere successfully mounted the USB devices
  • But Windows sometimes failed to initialize the smart card/token drivers
  • Tokens were not detected on the first mount attempt
  • Replug/remount sometimes helped, sometimes not

After debugging, I found that Windows was leaving broken PnP/SmartCard devices in a bad state. Especially devices like:

QDL Flash Failure over VirtualHere USB Redirection – Possible USB Interruption During Sahara Transfer

Forums

Hi,

We are currently using a Qualcomm EVK and testing a flashing process through our remote setup using Virtual Here. The board is physically connected to a host machine, and the flashing process is executed from a remote Windows environment where the USB device is redirected through VirtualHere.

During the QDL flashing process, we are seeing intermittent failures that appear to be related to a USB communication interruption while QDL is transferring data blocks to the device.

Nickname lost on connect

Forums

Hi,

I sometimes have the problem that when a PC connects with a USB device, the nickname changes to the product name, e.g. “0x1665”. Is this a known bug, or is there a way to prevent it?

Because of this, I’ve already started using the “onChangeNickname” event, but of course I still need to allow certain users.

best regards

Mathias

Spacemouse connected but only zooming on server machine

Forums

I have been able to get the service running on my workstation, the client sees the server and the USB device shows up but it seems to be shared only as a mouse. So, on the workstation the spacemouse only works to zoom in and out. I do have the 3DConnexion driver installed on the server machine, but it doesn't see a device so I can't change settings for instance to enable any of the other axes. Any idea what the issue might be?

Thanks

Gary
