Periodic Disconnections from Remote VirtualHere Server (Client 5.8.7 on macOS Sequoia)

Forums

Hello Michael,

I am experiencing an issue with my VirtualHere Client (version 5.8.7) on macOS Sequoia (15.3) where it repeatedly disconnects from remote VirtualHere Server, while connections to a local server remain stable. Below are the details:

Can't I connect MacOS (VirtualHere Server) to Win (VirtualHere Client) ?

Forums

Hi,

I tried to share my USB drive from my MacBook Pro (M3 chip) to a Windows host using VirtualHere. In fact...... I found that the Windows client couldn't connect at all, but the macOS client worked fine. On the contrary, when Windows was the server and macOS was the client, they could connect. It's quite strange. Could you tell me the specific reason?

Xbox 360 Wired Game Pad Controller from Windows 11 Server FAILS to connect to Windows 10 Client

Forums

Hi!

I have a problem that didn't exist just a few days ago.

I recently upgraded CPU in the PC that functions as VirtualHere Server, from 3900X to 5700X3D. Should be irrelevant but I'm mentioning it nonetheless.

Alongside that hardware change, I finally made the jump from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro. This is my first venture with Windows 11 on a personal computer at home.

As usual with Microsoft, something went terribly wrong. The most fun leisure activity I have been doing - split-screen co-op gaming using two PCs on one monitor - no longer functions!

Raspbery Pi - Boot from USB Flash Drive

Forums

Hello,

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B (might be a 3B+ actually) configured to boot Raspberry Pi OS from a USB flash drive instead of booting from the Micro SD card. I've found USB flash drives to be a lot more reliable than Micro SD cards. The remote location where the RPi is installed at has VERY unreliable power. I even had to install a RPi UPS on it.

The only other option I can think of is to revert back to using a Micro SD Card but to keep it in read-only mode so there's no chance for it to get corrupted.

How to collect logs for devices that don't work as expected

Forums

I have VirtualHere set up on a Raspberry Pi to act as a hub to host various microprocessor development boards and debuggers for myself and my colleagues to use. I'm currently testing with OSX as my client.

I've found that some boards work fine, but a couple don't and hang during certain operations. How best can I collect debug logs from VirtualHere to share here? The basic logging (via journalctl) doesn't show me anything relevant that I can see — just that the device binds to my client.

Here are the boards that don't work:

Getting error code when using vhfilter.exe

Just got the PPPS USB hub. I was following the example of using vhfilter.exe in my Win11 PC. No running of VirtualHere Client and Server. In cmd window, tried vhfilter.exe --install-filter and reboot. Open cmd window as admin. Got the the following messages.

C:\Users\user\Tools>vhfilter.exe --list-hubs
The following hubs are attached that support Per-Port-Power-Switching:

Dongle Problem under Linux

Forums

Hi Michael

I have a problem that isn't directly related to virtualhere, but maybe someone can help me. I'm hosting an Abadoneware game. I'd like to get it running on Linux. The server is already running on Linux and dont need a Dongle.

I have a few clients running Windows in ESXi and baremetal, and the dongle works great there. Whether they're connected directly to the host or under virtualhere.
