Virtualhere USB Root Hub remains active during S0 low power idle

Forums

I have been trying out VirtualHere on a laptop which uses S0 low power idle (aka Modern Standby or Connected Standby) instead of the traditional S3 standby. On this machine, powercfg -sleepstudy shows that the VirtualHere root hub (USB Root Hub (xHCI) (USB\ROOT_HUB30)) remains active during standby. This appears to result in a small power drain during sleep: powercfg -batteryreport indicates that 2% (1010mWh) was used during a 11-hour sleep.

GUI for VH service

Forums

Hello Michael

Could you please extend vhui so that it can connect to a locally running service?

For myself working with CLI is ok but I have colleagues and customers which can't work like this (lack of IT knowledge).

It would be really nice to have vhui extended so that it detects a locally running VH service and then connects to it for configuration (saying so that it's connected to a service).

Thank you

Greetings
Theo

Service not adding hub in Windows 10

Forums

I've installed VirtualHere as a service without Bonjour using -b and am able to run vhui64.exe -t help just fine, and -t list gives me the current status, but I cannot connect to the same hub that I was using prior to installing as a service by running:
vhui64.exe -t use,192.168.1.169
I simply get ERROR: Invalid Address

The Windows firewall is off for troubleshooting, and I can ping and ssh to the hub just fine.

What am I doing wrong?

Show Serial Number in client list

Forums

Please show the Serial Number in the VH Client, so that multiple devices of the same type can be distinguished.

I have a number of development boards that have on-board SEGGER J-Link debug chips. They all show up as J-Link in the Client so it's not easy to tell which one I need to use.

I notice there is a property option (right-click drop-down) and it shows all the details.

Huge frame loss while using Razer Naga mouse

Forums

Hello,
while using Razer Naga without Virtual Here I have 0% frame loss and lags, but I can't use 12 button thumb grid. When I enable Virtual Here all buttons work but I get up to 40% frame loss (unplayable) when I move the mouse.

I assure you that network isn't the problem. I tried both wired and wireless with same results. Only time I get frame loss is when using Razer Naga over Virtual Here. Tested on Borderlands 2 @ 30 FPS and @ 60 FPS, no difference.

Can you assist me with this issue?

Map USB device to server IP address

Forums

Hello!

I need some way to determine from which IP addresses OS USB devices (from the lsusb output) came from. I was trying to implement this using device serial numbers, but for some strange reason DEVICE INFO command just stopped working and now prints an empty line. usbip -p command prints 'unknown host' for all connected devices. Is there any other ways to make a list mapping lsusb output to servers' ip addresses?

Virtual here client shows hub + Sound Card devices. Windows does not see Sound Card

Forums

Hi Michael,

For my first use, I would like to use an Extigy Sound Blaster card connected to my NAS Synology DS215j (DSM6) from my Windows 7 machine.

Situation:
- Server : VirtualHere Server 3.1.9 for NAS DS215j DSM6.
- Client : Windows 7.
- Device : sound card Extigy Sound Blaster

- VirtualHere Client GUI show the hub and the attached devices , ie Sound Blaster and the UPS.
- VirtualHere USB Root Hub and VirtualHere USB HostController drivers are presents.

Wifi dongle shuts down as soon as VirtualHere client connects to server

Forums

My setup is as follows:
- Raspberry PI B+ powered with 5V 3A
- USB Hub powered with 5V 2.1A
- TP Link TL-WN722N 150Mbps USB Adaptor (connected to the USB Hub)

Wifi is working as expected and everything is ok (using e.g. SSH to install VirtualHere Server) until I connect with a VirtualHere client (Windows in this case) to the Server.
As soon as I do that the Wifi Dongle shuts down and does not work anymore. IgnoredDevices is empty in the config.ini file on the server.
