Multiple clients using same server and port - issue?

Forums

Hi. I am looking for a system to run our new raspberry pi devices that are attached to 1-4 serial devices in our lab. We currently have ser2net but it is not easy to use and suffers from the problem of one of connecting to a serial port and not disconnecting.
If I connect and go to a workshop or am involved in something else, no-one else can connect to that port. This is highly frustrating, especially when the person wanting access is thousands of miles away. The only way to close my connection is to restart the raspberry pi or physically unplug the port.

BSOD Page fault with Windows 10 x64 and RPi

Forums

Hello everyone,
I'm writing here because I need your help.

It's almost a month that I'm using your virtualhere software for the arm Raspberry Pi and it worked really well until today.

Now every time I start the server on the Raspberry Pi (which is fully updated) and I connect the usb device through the client on Windows 10 x64, I get a BSOD with the error "Page fault in non paged area" and after some seconds the computer reboots itself.

What can I do? Is it some kind of bug due to a recent Windows update?

Thank you for your help!

OSX 10.11 El Capitan.

Hi,

I saw in a search that you didn't see any USB drivers in El Capitan Beta 2, has anything changed ? I have a rootless setup and get the following message at startup:

09:13:52 INFO :No drivers installed, I am installing new ones...
09:14:32 INFO :Installed driver is now version 1.0.89
09:14:32 ERROR :IOIteratorNext = 0. com_virtualhere_vhhcd is not correctly registered in the kernel, you may need to reboot

problem with 64bit windows

Forums

Hi.
I've been using VH for over a year, but I had problems with crashing system when using VH. I had downgraded my Windows 7 to 32 bit and it helped.
However now I had to get back to the 64bit system and all the problems returned :(
Today I reinstalled the system, downloaded vh client and I can't connect to my devices. I've got 2 devices:

Feature Request: More flexible licensing.

Forums

I have several Raspberry Pi devices that I use for experimentation and niche tasks, and I would like to be able to swap them out without having to request my license number be changed and without needing multiple licenses. I have only ever needed to use one instance of the USB server at a time, but there have been several times where I needed to swap out the device with the USB server on it for another one (hardware issue, location change, etc) but was not able to due to the way you pair the license directly to the device.

Feature Request: Static Config File

Forums

I have been attempting to use a configuration management tool to maintain my USB server configuration, but it's nearly impossible due to the fact that the server completely re-writes the config file every time it boots. Could you do something to mitigate this? To get things started, a few suggestions:

Connection is onterrupted

Forums

Hello !

I use VirtualHere USB Server on my Raspberry to wirelessly connect my 3D printer in my garage to my computer.
And sometimes, while printing, the connection stops for a second so it completely crashes my print.
I don't really have any other information.
Please help me !

Thanks.

P.S: Sorry for my bad english.

Performance test

Forums

Hello, Michael

Did you perform any kind of performance testing on different platforms (Cortext A7/8/9, MIPS, Intel Atom, etc - only within SCB like devices) ?
What is the bottleneck CPU iterations caused by USB or network (on SCB with Gigabit Ethernet)?

Thinking what is the best platform to be used as a remote USB key device (SCB) to share different USB devices over Gigabit Ethernet?

Thanks in advance

Galaxy S4 Client

Forums

Attempted to use the Android client beta and it looks like there are no drivers available. I get the message "USBIP drivers not found, attempting to download for armv71, 3.4.0-4745659" "ERROR : USBIP client drivers are not available, you will have to compile/ install your own from the Linux kernel source."

My question is will compiling these drivers for android devices be something that you are going to undertake? I would be purchasing a licence today if I could then run the VirtualHere android client on my phone.

Feature request: autodisconnect users (stop using use devices) by the timeout

Forums

Hi, Michael

In our environment it would be very nice to define a given timeout of inactivity (not the user but usb device) after which the device automatically becomes available for usage by other users without a manual admin interaction done by remote disconnect.

Thank you in advance
