after I set up my raspberry pi with the USB server and my MBP (OSX 10.9.2) with the USB client software, neither my Nikon D300 nor any USB stick is going to be recognized in the Finder.

When clicking in the virtualhere client interface on device - properties, the attached device is correctly recognized, e.g.:
Vendor: USB
Product: Disk
Vendor ID: 0x0000
Product ID: 0x0000
Hub: 0011
Port: 0003

I have an Ubuntu laptop with three seven port hubs attached.

I want to rename all of the USB dongles, but when I try to rename USB device number 15 the server crashes and is unable to start(unable to read config file).

Is there an upper limit to the number of devices you can rename?

I have a problem with USB Sticks over Internet. When I connect them, it takes a long time (2-3 minutes) until they appear in Explorer. An then it takes again about 3 minutes until I can access them.

If I connect them in LAN then it works fine.
And other devices such as Mouse or Keyboard work fine over Internet.

Have you any idea?

I have problem with installing the Virtualhere Server to Ubuntu server 12.04.
You are a guide to install software server in ubuntu server 12.04?

The command that i run are:

Respond:

./vhusbd64: error while loading shared libraries: libavahi-client.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've been working on setting up a gaming/htpc computer using Xen (Debian Wheezy). VGA passthrough works, however, after much head banging, I gave up trying to pass through the USB ports and (lucky for me) found Virtualhere! I have been successfully using Virtualhere to share a Logitech remote keyboard and a Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless adapter without a problem between the Xen server (dom0) and the Windows 7 guest without any issues.

I'm totally new to VirtualHere and found this after a long search for solutions to use USB-Devices over ethernet.
So i installed it on my Pi und the client on a Windows 8.1 machine. Without any problems the connection works with a USB-Drive.

Next i hooked up my Nexus 7 2013 Tablet which normally connects via MTP when i connect it with my PC.
Unfortunately the whole pi freezes and i am no longer able to connect via ssh and the client looses connection to the VirtualHere-Server.

Just a suggestion which would make the use of VirtualHere as a Dongle Server a little better

If the main view in the client shows who is using the USB dongle and for how long they have been using it, then it would save a lot of people a lot of trouble here in my organisation. Having to right click and inspect each dongle is a tedious task.

I have installed the software on a Windows 8 x86 tablet and it seem to work properly, I was able to share a keyboard correctly. When I would connect an Epson printer it would detect it as an Unknown device and it wouldn't install the drivers for it like it would on Windows 7 machine where the same printer would work correctly.

I have removed the VirtualHere Drivers and tried to use the printer again but the program would hang on driver installation and it wouldnt let me install the virtual usb drivers or the printer.

Do you or will you have a Windows 8 client?
