Support for VirtualHere hardware and software

VirtualHere appears not completely transparent.

Forums

Overview:

I am trying to use a Software Defined Radio remotely using virtualhere, license purchased. The radio hardware is a FunCube dongle. When plugged in to my laptop, it appears as a USB audio source labelled FunCube Dongle and an HID, with no particularly unique name. It works fine in the laptop, the HID is used to control the hardware -- frequency, mode, etc.

Client conflict with DisplayLink

Forums

There seems to be an issue with the vhhcd.kext file and DisplayLink software. With the extension installed, my DisplayLink connected monitor blanks. Not sure which program is the issue, but I had to remove vhhcd in order to recover my DisplayLink connected monitor.

Here is the thread at the DisplayLink forum in case it is of use.

run -t commands in silent mode?

Forums

I am writing a powershell script based upon the 2.9.2 client version. The USB devices that we attach are WiFi adapters (over 240 connected to multiple VH servers in a classroom/lab environment). Because of the nature of the WiFi adapters, there are frequent times where even though there is a VH client-server connection established, the Windows client does not actually see any WiFi networks. I don't know if there is an issue with the WiFi client, or with VirtualHere.

Capturing -t list output

Forums

I am using the windows client and want to capture the output from the vhui64 -t list command into a variable using powershell, or alternatively into a file. When I use powershell, I always get the list output as a popup, even if I try to redirect the command to a file such as

$vh = vhui64 -t list
vhui64 -t list > log.txt

Redirects to a file in a windows command window creates an empty file.

Any suggestions?

thx

Can't use USB 3.0 device in Mac OS, slow speeds on PC

Forums

I currently am trying the trial version of VirtualHere before purchasing a license. I am using an Asustor AS5008T with a Intel Celeron 2.41GHz Dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM as the server. Attached to it I have an LG USB 3.0 Blu-ray drive with a model number of BE14NU40.

When I start the Mac client and attempt to use the Blu-ray drive, I receive the following message:

"USB-SATA Bridge" is a USB 3.0 device, plug it into a USB 2.0 hub or port before using."

"USB-SATA Bridge" is how the drive appears through VirtualHere.

usb camera not working (discard urb errors)

Forums

Hi,
first of all, thx a lot for your nice work.

i'm trying to get an usb camera to work with virtualhere but i keep getting some errors.
i'm running vh server on my ubuntu desktop (x64), and the client on windows 7 x64 in a vmware guest on the same host.

the general config looks fine, i can get a flashdrive to work properly and get around 4MB/s transfer speed when reading from the flashdrive through your win7 client.

Bind to a specific IP/interface

Forums

I have a registered server running on a R-Pi, and have been using it with WIndows clients. The Pi has two IP addresses, one private, one public, with a default route via a VPN tunnel (to service the public IP). My application has been control of devices over serial links. I have been impressed with VirtualHere, though I did notice a slight delay to responses to commands and put it down to the practicalities of getting USB over a network. However, I did notice when using the console client that it was connecting to the public IP of the server.

Trial Version Device Limit

Forums

Hello again,

Does VirtualHere's 1-device-limit apply to the number of logical devices exposed, or the number of physical devices exposed? In further attempts to get a FUNCubeDonglePro+ to work through VirtualHere, which involves the single physical device exposing a HID and a sound input, I seem to be only able to get control of one or the other:

When I am streaming audio, I lose contact from the HID. When I stop the audio, the HID comes back. When I select the FUNCube in the client app, it is listed as a single device named "FUNCube Dongle Pro Plus."
